Swiss Bank Corporation, also known under its French name, la Swiss Bank Corporation, also known under its French name, la Société de banque suisse (SBS), is a bank founded in 1872. It grew by opening branches, doing mergers and buying back several banks throughout its history. Notably, it was one of the first banks to open a branch in New York, in 1939.


The Société de banque Suisse (SBS) merged with the Union de banques suisses in 1998 to create one of the foremost financial institutions in the world: UBS.
